Teacher Aide Instructional 



Reports to: Assigned teacher, building principal

 

Supervises: n/a

 

Qualifications: Tier 1 (Paraprofessional)

Job Goal: Support assigned teacher to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the classroom. 

 

Employment Terms: 172 days x 7 hours (1204 hours)

 

FLSA Classification: Non exempt

 

Evaluation: Annually by building principal

Regular Requirements:  Stand for extended periods; walk; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment and demonstrate lessons to students; lift/move up to 15 pounds

 

Occasional Requirements:  Lift/move up to 25 pounds

 

Visual Requirements:  Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

 

Hearing/Speaking Requirements:  Adequate to exchange information





Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Note - these duties vary based upon the assigned grade and individual student needs.  Typical duties may include:

  1. Assist teacher in planning and implementing daily and long range lessons.

 

  1. Prepare papers, copies, materials, bulletin boards, etc.

 

  1. Maintain attendance and other paperwork.

 

  1. Supervise students during meal times, transition periods and recess.  Escort students to/from classes, office, restrooms, etc.

 

  1. Monitor student behavior and intervene when needed, including notifying other officials of unique needs of individual students.

 

  1. Conduct learning exercises with small groups of students.

 

  1. Maintain the classroom in an organized manner.

 

  1. Serve as a substitute teacher when needed.

 

  1. Monitor testing as needed. 

 

  1. Assist nurse when needed.

 

  1. Utilize professional behavior in all school related interactions.  

 

  1. Comply with all federal, state and local laws and board policies and procedures.

 

  1. Perform all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
